headword of the moment
logophile
A person who loves words for their own sake — the sound, the shape, the history. If you've read this far down a joke dictionary website, you're probably one.
Every language evolves and many wonderful words get left in a drawer....
wordsnotused opens that drawer!
What this actually is
wordsnotused is the app that the Hemsworths (well, specifically RTMQ Hemsworth) keep discussing but not actually building: a small, growing dictionary of English words that, over time, quietly fell out of use. This page is a taster for the forthcoming WNU multimedia empire: a portfolio of apps, games and tiktoky thingys that will delight and amuse the world, allegedly.
One word, daily
A single rescued word each day, with a definition worth actually reading — not a dictionary snippet you skim past.
Use it or lose it (again)
Nudges to drop the word into a real sentence before it slips back into the drawer for another century.
No streaks, no guilt
The whole point is words nobody uses. The app should not pressure you into using this one either.
Sample entries
A handful of words the app would open with, if it existed, which — to be clear — it does not yet.
